Well we are counting down - only 24 days to take off and the situation re airport closures and flights in and out of Europe seems to have eased with all the European airports now open. This provides some relief especially to good friends of ours who are leaving for Italy and Spain next week.
Of course this depends on the behaviour of Volcano Eyjafjallajokull* in Iceland. If it doesn't behave then airport closures may be repeated and all us travellers will have to rely on our insurance companies and/or the goodwill of the large airlines. Why doesn't that make me feel relaxed and comfortable?
*A friend of mine tells me that in Chile the news readers are refering to Volcano Eyjafjallajokull as Volcán Impronunciable. Apparently, it's quite easy to pronounce - “AY-yah-fyah-lah-YOH-kuul.” - that is according to the Icelandic Embassy in Washington.
